Our Services

We offer a range of Advanced & Basic Medical Footcare services for clients of all ages, seen both in clinic & in the community.

Medical foot care nurses ensure clinical hygiene standards and safety to all clients. The nurse performs a comprehensive examination of the feet, identification of potential issues, and then implements an appropriate treatment plan. With a focus on both treatment and prevention, medical foot care is geared towards immediate resolution of foot ailments as well as long-term foot health. The nurse will educate you during your appointment on techniques and care of the feet at home to bring you the best results possible.

Hi! My name is Kelly Lamb and I am a Registered Nurse with an Advanced Footcare Certificate. I offer mobile & in-clinic footcare services. I'll travel to your home, LTC/retirement home or assisted living facility, or you can schedule an appointment with me for an in clinic assessment and treatment at the Vankleek Hill Chiropractic Center.

I have been a Registered Nurse in good standing with the CNO since 2007, and have had many nursing opportunities and experience throughout the years, working in the community, in primary care & in the hospital.

My passion for educating clients & providing holistic, compassionate care, has encouraged me to expand my scope and hone in on some new skills as a footcare nurse. My decision to focus on professional foot care and entertain my entrepreneurial drive, was also a desire for career independence. Like many nurses, I wanted more flexible hours and working conditions so I could spend more time with my family and 3 daughters.

My goal is to raise awareness of the importance of medical footcare and raise the standard of foot care in my community. My footcare services include caring for seniors, children, athletes, addressing foot pain, and helping patients with chronic health conditions such as diabetes. Taking my time, paying attention to detail, being thorough, being empathetic and compassionate, are all values I wish to excel in throughout our nurse-client relationship.

What is Step Into Wellness Footcare?

Step Into Wellness Footcare is a medical footcare service operated by a Registered Nurse. It specializes in addressing common foot disorders and includes a sterile, safe & professional environment for treatments

What services does Step Into Wellness Footcare offer?

Step Into Wellness Footcare offers a wide range of footcare services including:

-diabetic footcare management & maintenance

- callous reduction/removal

- corn reduction/removal

- ingrown toenail reduction/treatment

- thick or damaged toenail reduction

- skin + lower limb assessment

..... and in the near future- treating fungal nail issues

Treatment involves hot towel application, followed by a gentle cleanse of the skin and nails. Our Nurse uses medical-grade cleansers, lotions, and nail oils during treatment. We provide proper trimming and filing of the nails, as well as, addressing any complaints of pain. This may include physical reduction of nails and thickened skin, and education on how to prevent complications or reoccurrence. We safely remove thickened calluses, reduce cracked heels, and painful corns down to normal skin.

Healthy, properly trimmed nails and smooth supple skin on your feet reduce risks of infection and can significantly improve the quality of your life.

Who can benefit from Step Into Wellness Footcare services?

Everyone! Step Into Wellness Footcare services are designed to benefit anyone with foot pain or nail issues, diabetics, seniors, those with mobility issues, athletes, pregnant women, & people who are on their feet alot. Foot health is important and by having regular feet check-ups, a concern can be identified before it becomes a serious issue. It is especially important for those who have vision disturbances, unable to reach your feet, neuropathies (reduced sensation), reduced circulation, etc.

What is the difference between a Medical Pedicure with a Footcare Nurse & a regular spa pedicure

A pedicure in a spa is aesthetic. It can provide basic care such as nail trim, file, polish application and a foot soak. Not often, if at all, are the tools autoclaved in a sterilizer.

Foot care nurses abide standards of practice established by the College of Nurses of Ontario, Infection Prevention and Control Canada, and Public Health Ontario. Infection control is a top priority. Our infection control procedures are hospital grade. During your treatment, we only use professional, sterilized, podiatry equipment and medical-grade products to elevate your quality of care. We are dedicated to your foot health and can treat thickened nails, corns, calluses, non-surgical removal of ingrown toenails, work with patients who have diabetes and common foot issues associated with the condition. Footcare nurses are also trained in recognizing other problems associated with lower limbs and feet and can refer you to the appropriate practitioner as required.

How can I prepare for my appointment?

Please ensure your feet are clean (or as clean as possible), remove any polish (if gel or lacquer is on your toes I can remove it during the appointment for an additional cost), and that you're wearing comfortable clothing. If I am seeing you in your home environment, please ensure that you have a comfortable chair to sit in for the appointment & if you have a foot rest that would be helpful. If there is smoking in the home, please ensure that you haven't had a cigarette indoors for at least 2 hours prior to your appointment. If you have pets, please ensure that you have them secured in another area of the home for the duration of the appointment. The room should have good lighting and in the winter please ensure your walkway has been shoveled. I will provide the rest!

What form of payment do you accept?

I accept all major credit cards, e-transfer, and cash. Payment is due immediately upon completion of service

Do you provide receipts?

Yes. I issue a receipt for all visits. These are sent via email. If you wish to receive a paper copy, please let me know before your visit.

Are Footcare services covered by insurance?

Foot Care Services are not covered by OHIP. But most private insurance plans cover foot care services, or "nursing" services. All receipts will have all information needed to submit to your insurer written on them.

Do I need a referral to see an Advanced Footcare Nurse?

No, a referral is not required, however it may be required for your insurance plan to reimburse you.

How do you clean your tools in between clients?

All reusable tools are cleaned and sterilized using an Autoclave, and we adhere to Public Health Ontario Guidelines. Anything that cannot be sterilized is single use (discarded after use), or disinfected with medical grade disinfectant between clients.

How do I book an appointment?
